April 21, 2025 Bargaining Update
The Centennial and CEA bargaining teams met on April 21, 2025, for their sixth bargaining session. The teams reached three tentative agreements in this bargaining session on Articles 1, 2, and 21:
- Article 1 – Recognition
- Clarifying CEA serves as East County Bargaining Council’s bargaining representative
- Article 2 – Grievance Procedure
- Revise language limiting an employee’s right to representation during grievance proceedings to only designated Association representatives instead of any individual the employee chooses
- Update grievance timeline calculations for consistency
- Clarify that arbitrators of any dispute between the parties must be based in Oregon or Washington
- Article 21 – General Provisions
- Clarify language for reopening the CBA
The parties also continued to exchange proposals and discuss the following open articles:
- Article 4 – Association/Council Rights
- Article 7 – Complaint Procedure
- Article 14 – Professional Development
- Article 10 – Reduction in Force
- Article 19 – Paid Leaves of Absence
- Article 20 – Unpaid Leaves of Absence
The next bargaining session is scheduled for Monday, May 5 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Centennial Middle School.
